Second-tier league - In Nuremberg, coach Klose expresses his fondness for excitement.
The unanticipated announcement of Miroslav Klose as the new coach for Nuremberg football team was a popular topic among nearby European Championship headquarters in Herzogenaurach. Toni Kroos, Manuel Neuer, and Thomas Mueller - all three were part of the World Cup team ten years ago in Brazil that became champions alongside the experienced Klose, who scored several records.
Since then, Klose, who is now 46 years old, has been craving for a full-time coaching career in Germany. He was lately introduced by 1. FC Nuremberg as the successor of the previous coach, Cristian Fiél, who moved to another league team, Hertha BSC. "I'm filled with energy, and I'm eagerly looking forward to starting my new job," said Klose.
Previously, Klose attempted his first steps in coaching after retiring as a footballer by joining FC Bayern's U17 team and working in the national team under coach Joachim Löw and as a co-trainer at Bayern professionals under Hansi Flick. However, his coaching tenure at SCR Altach in Austria ended in just nine months. A year of waiting with TV expert appearances in Champions League games for Prime Video was enough for him: "I'm ready to work!"
Following his introduction at Nuremberg, the club's new sports director, Joti Chatzialexiou, feels optimistic about Klose's popularity in the city and region. With Chatzialexiou's trust in Klose's stardom, both anticipate building the Nuremberg team with star power. "I want to inspire people. Miro is a perfect fit," said Chatzialexiou.
Klose mentioned that their immediate plan is to strengthen the club's forward line, especially since the team's top goalscorer, Uzun (18), is expected to move to Eintracht Frankfurt, but no official announcements have been made. "We need to bolster the frontline," he said. Klose signed a two-year contract with the "Club." He also hopes to buy a house in Nuremberg and work tirelessly to achieve success. "I enjoy challenges," Klose noted about the unrest in Nuremberg and the expectation of a more excellent season.
"Communication, honesty, and respect" were the values mentioned by Klose during a five-hour conversation with Chatzialexiou, the newly appointed sporting management. Klose aspires to create a dynamic and energetic football culture both on and off the field. He might also visit his former DFB teammates in the Adidas "Home Ground" soon, like Neuer, Mueller, and Kroos, to discuss Reichert, the highly-regarded FCN youth goalkeeper who could potentially become the team's number one. "I played for the national team for 13 years. So, if I get the opportunity to learn from Manuel Neuer, that's a great opportunity," Klose added. He admitted that he would definitely ask Neuer for recommendations about Reichert's talent.
However, Klose downplayed the idea of immediately returning the team to the Bundesliga as a target, saying that it's presumptuous to speak about gaining promotion.
