Additionally, 538 babies under the age of one passed away in North Rhine-Westphalia, a decrease of 19 infants from 2022. At an infant mortality rate of 3.5 per 1,000 live births, this was roughly the same as the previous year. With a drop of nearly 30% compared to 2000's rate of 4.9, the infant mortality rate has consistently improved.
