- In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, around 1200 active arrest warrants remain unserved.

In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as of recent figures, 1,186 active warrants for arrest are yet to be served. A representative from the Interior Ministry revealed this to the German Press Agency, mentioning that over 1 warrant is on file for 94 individuals specifically. One individual even has 5 warrants against them. If the suspect fails to reside at the given address and the police lack knowledge of any alternative location, additional investigative steps are necessary.

In 388 instances, the warrants are due to theft, embezzlement, or receiving stolen goods. 107 arrest warrants have been issued due to fraud, and 30 for robbery. A warrant for driving without a valid license was issued 216 times, yet remains unserved. The majority of cases include substitute imprisonment, often imposed for unpaid fines.

Luckily, the number of open arrest warrants has remained fairly consistent over the past couple of years. In July 2023, the Interior Ministry reported 1,253 open warrants, compared to 1,245 a year prior.

Despite the significant number of unserved warrants, there's a prevalent belief in the pursuit of justice. In such cases, it's crucial to ensure that due process is upheld, ensuring that the accused have their day in court.
