In Hildesheim, Elversberg experiences a 7-0 defeat in the second round.

In the DFB-Pokal, Oberligist VfV Hildesheim overwhelmingly outperformed Second division team Elversberg, a performance that bigger names had presumably anticipated Elversberg to deliver.

Lower-tier team SV Elversberg blitzed past VfV 06 Hildesheim in the DFB Cup, securing a spot in the next round with a impressive 7-0 (3-0) win.

Goals from Luca Schnellbacher (17th minute), Robin Fellhauer (32nd), and a own-goal by Yannik Schulze (43rd) put Elversberg in a commanding position at the break. In the second period, Paul Stock (51st), Frederik Schmahl (62nd), Carlo Sickinger (77th), and Joseph Boyamba (78th) added to their tally.

A couple of years back, these two clubs were battling it out in the Regional League. However, the turn of events saw Hildesheim getting relegated to the fifth tier after the 2022/23 season, while Elversberg climbed their way up to the 2. Bundesliga.

Germany's 2. Bundesliga now features SV Elversberg, who have significantly improved since their past encounters with VfV 06 Hildesheim in lower leagues. Despite Hildesheim's recent struggle, having been relegated to Germany's fifth tier after the 2022/23 season.
