In Hesse, there have been over half a million foreign EU citizens residing since 2023.

At the conclusion of last year, over 500,000 citizens from other EU nations were residing in Hesse. The State Statistical Office in Wiesbaden reported on Monday that 511,155 individuals were from one of the 26 European Union nations. The population of Hesse was 6,420,729 people.

Number of residents - In Hesse, there have been over half a million foreign EU citizens residing since 2023.

Over 83,000 EU foreigners held Romanian citizenship at the end of 2023, according to the Hessian State Statistical Office. This was slightly higher than the Polish population (79,530), and much more than those with Italian citizenship, at 73,990. Just a tiny 90 individuals held Maltese passports.
