Severe weather event hits area with strong winds and heavy rain. - In Heidelberg, the peak level of flooding has been attained.

Because of the recent flooding, several regions in Heidelberg's Old Town are still underwater, with water levels expected to drop soon. The highest water level of the Neckar, at 5.10 meters, was reached during the night on Monday, as communicated by the city in the morning. The federal highway B37 in the Old Town district was closed in both directions. The exact duration of the road closure is currently unknown, mentioned a city representative. The situation is unstable, and no predictions can be made yet. Flood defenses were put up during the weekend, and no evacuations were required, based on the reports.
