Assistance is organized for the homeless across all cities in Germany, notably by organizations like Bahnhofsmission. Here, help is provided to everyone free of charge and without prior registration.

Employees offer practical and psychological advice, working with those in need to find solutions in emergency situations, whether they require a place to stay, need to feed a breastfeeding child, or are hungry.

Winter assistance for the homeless is organized here.

Berliner Kühlhilfe offers a free app to aid during cold weather. Users can inquire about the needs of individuals in Berlin and what specific assistance they require.

The app provides information on nearby emergency shelters and also indicates locations for washing up and obtaining free products. Users can directly connect with humanitarian organizations and receive mobile assistance.

In many cities, humanitarian organizations utilize buses. From November to March, these buses operate at night, searching for the homeless. Staff engage with those in need, offering hot drinks, clothing, or sleeping bags. They can also transport individuals to emergency shelters if necessary.

  • In Berlin, such buses are serviced by the City Mission and the Red Cross;
  • In Hamburg, the association CaFee mit Herz operates the bus, while Diakonie manages the midnight bus;
  • Stuttgart has the DRK Stuttgart bus;
  • In Cologne, a similar bus operates on Mondays and Wednesdays.

  • In Bremen, the bus "Johanniter" travels to the main train station on Fridays and Sundays;
  • In Hanover, "Johanniter" performs this mission three times a week.
  • In Oldenburg, "Johanniter" serves as the special bus at the train station twice a week.

Social workers also use a similar bus in Hanover. They often distribute coffee, tea, and warm soup on the streets, provide sleeping bags and bedding, and, if needed, help with minor health issues.
