In a recent statement, Israel's defense minister asserted that as a military entity, Hamas no longer holds substantial power.

Furthermore, Virtuous advocated for the finalization of a truce agreement, aiming to facilitate the liberation of Hamas captives. This approach, he asserted, is "the proper course." He further explained, "A deal also presents a tactical chance to shift the security landscape across all battlefronts."

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas was ignited by the brutal assault initiated by the radical Islamic Hamas against Israel on October 7 the previous year. Fighters affiliated with Hamas and other militant Palestinian factions were responsible for the slaughter of 1205 individuals and the captivity of 251 souls in attacks on locations in southern Israel, as reported by Israeli sources.

In retaliation to the Hamas attack, Israel has executed extensive military operations within the Gaza Strip. As per Hamas's claims, which cannot be confirmed independently, over 40,990 individuals have lost their lives in the Palestinian territory since October.

The international community has called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, given the extensive humanitarian crisis resulting from the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Despite this, rocket attacks from Hamas continue to pose a threat to civilians living in the outskirts of The Gaza Strip.
