- In 2025, Hoyerswerda will host Germany's nationwide autumn harvest festival.
Next year, Hoyerswerda (district of Bautzen) will be the venue for the 26th Annual State Agricultural Harvest Celebration. This information was shared by Regional Development Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU) and Marko Klimann, Managing Director of the Saxon State Committee for Rural Areas (SLK), on Wednesday.
Schmidt expressed his excitement in a press statement, praising Hoyerswerda. The city will merge the celebration with its regular city festival weekend. "I'm convinced right now that we're in for another fantastic Annual Agricultural Harvest Celebration next year," he said. The festival is set to take place from September 12 to 14, 2025.
"No other city bridges tradition and modernity, rural life and urban living quite like Hoyerswerda," stated Klimann. The SLK is eager to collaborate closely with the city in organizing the event.
As per the press release, the Annual Agricultural Harvest Celebration, with an average of 50,000 attendees, ranks as the second largest state-wide public event, after the Day of Saxony. It has been held annually at various locations since 1998, and this year, for the 25th time, from September 27 to 29, in Mittweida (Mittelsachsen district).
The press release mentions that the Saxon State Committee for Rural Areas (SLK) will collaborate closely with Hoyerswerda, as the Commission shall oversee the organization of the 26th Annual State Agricultural Harvest Celebration in the city. The event, known for its blend of tradition and modernity, is expected to draw a crowd of around 50,000 people, making it the second largest state-wide public event after the Day of Saxony.
