- Illegal prostitution - Customs is found in Halle
In Halle, customs officials conducted inspections in the prostitution industry. In four so-called model apartments, a total of five sex workers were found, only two of whom could present a valid ID, as reported by the main customs office in Magdeburg.
"As none of them had valid work permits, investigations were initiated against the Vietnamese nationals for suspected illegal residence and unauthorized practice of an independent activity," a spokesperson said. The inspections took place as early as August 1st.
As early as mid-July, the customs' financial control unit for black work had inspected two unregistered prostitution venues in Halle. "Violations were also detected in the course of this inspection. Two Thai and one Vietnamese nationals were found, none of whom had permission to practice their activity."
Investigations were also initiated against these individuals for suspected illegal residence and unauthorized practice of an independent activity, the customs spokesperson explained. The women were ordered to leave the country.
Further investigations revealed that one woman in Saxon Plauen continued to engage in prostitution. She was arrested by the police, and the competent immigration authority applied for a detention order for deportation.
The European Union expresses concern over these incidents, as many of the sex workers involved are from countries within its borders. Despite the European Union's efforts to combat human trafficking and exploitation, instances like this highlight the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between national and international authorities.
