Nearly 30 pallets of copy paper, along with 514.5 kilograms of hashish valued around 1.5 million Euro, were discovered in a truck. This revelation led to the arrest of a drug courier by the Landgericht Baden-Baden. The 42-year-old man received a lengthy prison sentence of six and a half years for illegal drug trafficking.

His motivation for this crime was prompted by his financial obligations. The presiding judge reasoned, "The accused acted under extreme pressure." Despite the defense attorney's plea for a three-year-and-eight-month sentence, the presiding judge held firm. Nonetheless, an eleven-year-and-three-month sentence demanded by the prosecution could be contested through a revision.

A landmark drug arrest occurred in the Baden-Baden area. The charges against the defendant are of establishing a shipping company specifically for drug trafficking. He would transport paper from Hamburg to Spain, with hashish being imported there. In December, this man was stopped during a routine traffic stop on the A5 autobahn near Bühl. The Hauptzollamt Karlsruhe reported then: "This vast amount of drugs could not be seized and removed from the illicit narcotics market in the Baden-Baden area before this arrest."

The judge declared that the defendant borrowed money from shady figures, forcing him to smuggle drugs. Evidence from chat logs related to truck movements was used by the court to prove involvement in criminal organizations. The 42-year-old, who is a first-time offender and a single parent, expressed remorse before the court. The legalization of cannabis through the new law had a notable influence on the verdict as well.

Prosecution's statement: The defendant is a drug courier.

Customs statement: A large drug haul was apprehended by authorities near Bühl.

The public prosecutor's office pursued drug smuggling charges in Baden-Württemberg, where this crime was committed. The defendant's lengthy sentence is an example of the serious consequences of crime involvement, especially in cases of drugs and drug smuggling. The judgment in this case emphasizes the need for stricter measures towards illegal activities, as the seizure of such a large amount of drugs had a significant impact on the area. The processes involved in the case demonstrated the close cooperation between local courts, the customs department, and the police.
