Thomas Höhn, the first authorized representative of IG Metall Schweinfurt, expressed his distress over the impending job losses at local automotive suppliers, stating that it feels like a landslide is occurring. This was announced on Wednesday.

Announcement of cutting 420 jobs at Preh made on Tuesday is just the tip of the iceberg. ZF intends to reduce at least 380 positions related to electromobility and combustion engine technology by year's end. SKF has already laid off 500 workers and has started short-time work; the subsequent phase for their announced staff reduction through early retirement is underway. Schaeffler, meanwhile, is reducing working hours of 2000 employees at Schweinfurt to 30 hours a week because of the sluggish industrial market.
