IG BCE trade union demonstrates for bridge electricity price
With a rally in Ludwigshafen, the IG BCE trade union and chemical industry employees want to put pressure on the industry for a temporary cap on electricity prices. According to reports, more than 3,000 participants are expected to attend the event on Tuesday (12.00 noon) at the headquarters of the BASF Group. Speakers include Michael Vassiliadis, head of the IG BCE trade union, Sinischa Horvat, chairman of the BASF works council, and a representative of the state government in Mainz.
The IG BCE is calling for a price cap for electricity until 2030. To this end, it has joined forces with the DGB, IG Metall and industry associations in a so-called Alliance pro Brückenstrompreis. According to its own information, the IG BCE is the second largest industrial trade union in Germany with more than 580,000 members.
The IG BCE trade union believes that the temporary cap on electricity prices is crucial for the struggling industry, particularly in the context of rising energy costs. Trade unions like IG BCE and their members in various industries are advocating for this, as high energy costs could impact future trade deals and profitability.
