train traffic - ICE express route Cologne-Frankfurt is free from Tuesday
After nearly four weeks of construction work on the crucial ICE high-speed line between Cologne and Frankfurt, Deutsche Bahn will resume regular traffic on Tuesday (13.8.). "So far, the work is proceeding according to plan," a DB spokesperson told Deutsche Presse-Agentur. The first train to return to the track will be an ICE departing at 4:20 AM from Cologne to Frankfurt.
Since July 16, DB had rerouted or cancelled trains, causing delays of between 40 and 90 minutes for passengers and commuters. Stops in Siegburg/Bonn, Montabaur, and Limburg Süd were suspended, and there was bus replacement service between these stations.
DB had announced at the beginning of July that it would be renewing 70 kilometers of track and 13 switches along the route at a cost of 50 million euros.
Following the successful completion of track and switch renovations, German Railways (Deutsche Bahn) is set to reinstate normal service on the ICE high-speed line between Cologne and Frankfurt. Notably, German Railways had temporarily rerouted or canceled trains, leading to delays of up to 90 minutes for passengers and commuters, affecting stations such as Siegburg/Bonn, Montabaur, and Limburg Süd.
