Non-traditional energy sources - Hydrogen Week Highlights Potential Uses for Residents in Saarland

Join the journey of hydrogen during the National Hydrogen Week (WDW) scheduled from June 15th to 23rd as Saarland also takes part in this enlightening event. Designed for families, students, and experts alike, this action-packed week is all about shining a light on the vast potential of hydrogen. In the words of Economic Minister Jürgen Barke (SPD), "It's the technology that signals the start of a new era for our region's economic growth, and it has far-reaching effects for everyone, not just businesses."

The WDW will explore various aspects of the hydrogen phenomenon, including "Where are we? Where do we want to go? What possibilities and potentials are there?" with universities and corporations jumping in to contribute. The week is organized to spread awareness and knowledge about hydrogen. So, buckle up as you embark on this educational journey!

Barke emphasized the significance of hydrogen technology in laying the foundation for the region's economic future. "We cannot rely solely on solar and wind energy to meet our country's energy demands. We also need hydrogen technology," he stated during a recent event. Saarland, as per Barke, has already started the race to embrace hydrogen, setting an excellent example.

Green hydrogen combines the best of both worlds - it's dedicated to the environment and fuels innovation along with its creation of sustainable jobs. Bettina Hübschen, director of the Saarland Hydrogen Agency, believes that the Hydrogen Week will allow visitors to explore various facets of hydrogen at different locations like Saarbrücken, St. Ingbert, Spiesen-Elversberg, and Homburg, with a focus on transport and mobility, production, storage, and infrastructure. These topics encapsulate hydrogen's applications in our day-to-day lives. Let's seize the chance to find out more about this vital resource as it shapes our future!
