Huub Stevens worried about Schalke: "It will be very difficult"
Long-time Schalke Bundesliga coach Huub Stevens is very worried about his former club. "The way I see it, it's going to be very difficult," the Dutchman told the German Press Agency shortly before his 70th birthday this Wednesday. "I'm afraid that if you have to continue working with this team, it won't be easy."
The relegated Bundesliga side are third bottom of the table with 13 points from 14 games after Saturday's 5-3 defeat at Fortuna Düsseldorf. "Of course you worry about that. You can't be happy," said Stevens, who won the UEFA Cup with Schalke in 1997 and the DFB Cup in 2001 and 2002.
According to his own statement, he still regularly watches the games of the Revierclub and is shocked. "But with the way you play soccer - no," said Stevens, who would like to see new players in the winter: "Of course, that always has to do with quality. But I don't know what the financial situation is like."
Huub Stevens expressed concern about FC Schalke 04's current performance in Bundesliga 2, as they're struggling at the bottom of the table. His worry deepens as he watches the team's subpar soccer play, suggesting the need for reinforcements in the winter transfer window.
