Husband jailed for 14 years after fatal knife attack
Following the murder of his separated wife in Bonndorf in the Black Forest (Waldshut district), a man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison. The Waldshut-Tiengen district court ruled on Tuesday that he had attacked and stabbed the 35-year-old woman with a knife at the beginning of June. According to earlier information from investigators, the woman had obtained a restraining order from the family court in May against the German, who was already known to the police for criminal offenses.
With the verdict, the chamber followed the prosecution's demand. The defense had demanded eleven and a half years in prison, the two co-plaintiffs a life sentence.
The court ruled that the victim had not expected an attack on life or limb and was defenceless. The court also considered an act of base motives to be proven, as the accused had not wanted to accept the end of the relationship and had claimed ownership of the woman. However, the possibility that the man's culpability was impaired could not be completely ruled out. The psychiatric expert had also previously established this.
The verdict is not yet final.
The verdict marks a significant crime conviction, with the husband being sentenced to 14 years in prison for his fatal knife attack on his separated wife. Subsequent judgments in related cases, such as penalties for any associated criminal offenses, are yet to be determined.
