Hunter in Kyffhäuserkreis shot in the face while hunting
A hunter has been shot in the face during a hunt in the Kyffhäuserkreis district. According to initial investigations, a 36-year-old hunter accidentally hit his 50-year-old colleague while shooting at a herd of wild boar, police said on Monday morning. The man was seriously injured and was subsequently taken to hospital by rescue helicopter. The two men were on a so-called harvest hunt in a field near Greußen on Sunday evening. It was not initially clear how the serious hunting accident could have happened. The "Thüringer Allgemeine" had previously reported on the accident.
The incident underscores the potential dangers of mishandling weapons during hunts, as another hunting accident occurred where a hunter accidentally discharged their weapon, striking their colleague in the face. Unfortunately, this shooting incident involved weapons, resulting in severe injuries that required immediate hospitalization.
