- Hungary Bondar wins the Hamburg WTA tournament

Tennis player Anna Bondar won the ECE Ladies Hamburg Open. The Hungarian unexpectedly defeated defending champion Arantxa Rus from the Netherlands 6:4, 6:2 in the final of the WTA-125 tournament on the Centre Court at the Rothenbaum. The 27-year-old received 13,040 euros in prize money and 125 points for the world rankings.

Number three seed Rus, who hadn't dropped a set before the final, started stronger. However, Bondar, number four seed, took control as the match progressed and won the first set. In the second set, the Hungarian remained the dominant player and sealed the victory on her first match point.

The WTA-125 tournament in Hamburg saw Anna Bondar emerge victorious, outplaying number three seed Arantxa Rus in the final of the event. Following her win at the ECE Ladies Hamburg Open, Bondar is set to participate in the next WTA tournament.
