HSV talent Yalcinkaya attracts attention at the U17 World Cup
HSV's talented youngster Bilal Yalcinkaya is still going strong at the U17 World Cup in Indonesia. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder also played in Germany's 3-0 (2-0) win over Venezuela on Saturday. Following this victory, coach Christian Wück's team top the group and will face the USA in the round of 16 on Tuesday.
Yalcinkaya's inclusion in the tournament at all is a surprise. The Hamburg native was called up and scored the 3-0 goal on his debut against New Zealand (3-1) last Wednesday.
Yalcinkaya was only called up to the HSV matchday squad for the first time shortly before his departure for the World Cup. "First I was in the squad for the second division match against Holstein Kiel, then one day later I was already on my way to the U17 World Cup in Indonesia," the 17-year-old told dfb.de. He had always wanted to "take part in a World Cup".
However, Yalcinkaya's performances are unlikely to bring only joy to HSV: The competition is being closely watched by top clubs. The 17-year-old does not yet have a professional contract with HSV, but a development contract.
Despite his impressive performances at the U17 World Cup, Hamburg SV's talent Bilal Yalcinkaya remains without a professional contract with the club. His standout displays have certainly caught the eye of clubs competing in Bundesliga 2 and higher leagues.
