Handball Bundesliga - HSV Hamburg only draw against bottom team Balingen
HSV Hamburg did not manage more than a draw against HBW Balingen-Weilstetten in the German Handball League. Oddur Gretarsson's last-second seven-meter penalty earned the bottom club from Baden-Württemberg a point in the Hanseatic city with a 28:28 (12:14) win. The hosts' best scorer was Casper Mortensen with seven goals. With 13:21 points, the Hanseatic team remains in 13th place.
Balingen played courageously and went 8:5 ahead in the 19th minute thanks to Jerome Müller's goal. It was only now that the home side woke up and turned the game around to make it 12:10 (26'). The picture was the same in the second half. First HBW took the lead (25:22/52), then HSVH (28:27/60). Gretarsson's final seven-meter penalty ensured a deserved draw.
The club had already announced the end of the season for center Andreas Magaard before the game. The 25-year-old Dane has already undergone knee surgery due to a meniscus and cruciate ligament injury sustained in the game against VfL Gummersbach (23:24) on December 7.
