- HSV goalkeeper Johansson before moving to Braunschweig
Swedish goalkeeper Marko Johansson is on the verge of a transfer from Hamburger SV to their north German second division rivals Eintracht Braunschweig. According to Bild.de, the 25-year-old is set to terminate his contract with HSV, undergo the usual medical check on Thursday in Braunschweig, and then be presented as the new Eintracht player.
Hamburg signed the former Swedish youth international from Malmo FF in 2021. However, Johansson couldn't displace long-standing HSV goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes, leading to subsequent loans to VfL Bochum, Swedish club Halmstads BK, and most recently Hansa Rostock.
In Braunschweig, Johansson is expected to replace Austrian Tino Casali, who suffered a serious knee injury just before the start of the 2. Bundesliga season. The Swedish goalkeeper has already completed a two-day trial with Eintracht.
The transfer of Marko Johansson from Hamburger SV to Eintracht Braunschweig is imminent, as he agreed to terminate his contract with his current club and undergo medical checks. With Austrian Tino Casali sidelined due to a serious knee injury, Johansson is expected to fill Casali's goalkeeper position at Eintracht.
