HSV faces unloved Kiel in northern duel
Hamburger SV travel to their unloved northern rivals Holstein Kiel this Saturday. The ambitious Hanseatic side want to finally improve their record against coach Marcel Rapp's team on their way to promotion to the Bundesliga (Saturday, 13:00/Sky). HSV have won just one of their ten second division duels against their rivals from Schleswig-Holstein.
In September 2022, Hamburg won 3:2 in Kiel. Holstein was also HSV coach Tim Walter's first coaching stop in professional soccer. Both teams are at the top of the table. HSV went into matchday 13 second in the table, with Kiel just four points behind in fifth.
Hamburger SV aims to build on their victory over Holstein Kiel from September, as they face their northern rivals again in the Bundesliga 2 this Saturday. Despite their historical struggles against Holstein Kiel, with only one win in ten matches, Hamburger SV is determined to turn the tables and secure another important three points, as they chase promotion to the Bundesliga.
