German Football League - HSV contracts Egyptian international goalkeeper El-Tayar.
HSV Hamburg's latest signing is 28-year-old Egyptian goalkeeper, Mohamed El-Tayar. He's leaving HBW Balingen-Weilstetten and joining the Hanseatic City on a contract spanning the next two seasons. HSVH's managing director, Sebastian Frecke, expressed their excitement about his arrival, stating that El-Tayar's skills could make any league shooter struggle.
Frecke commented, "Mohamed is a goalkeeper who can put any shooter in the league in trouble with his qualities. We're confident that he'll help us with his quick reactions to enhance our defense even more."
Prior to Balingen, El-Tayar played for SC DHfK Leipzig. The 73-time Egyptian national player won Africa's Championship in 2020 and finished 4th with his country at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. El-Tayar will be representing Egypt again at the Paris Olympics in late July and will join HSVH afterward.
HSVH's move comes after goalkeepers Jens Vortmann (career end) and Alexander Pinski's (TSV Ellerbek) departures, causing concern regarding the club's Bundesliga license. Fortunately, the club met the financial security requirements at the eleventh hour following the arbitration court's regulations. El-Tayar's signing gives HSVH assurance for the upcoming season.

El-Tayar's impressive performances in the Olympic Games with Egypt showcased his talent on a global stage. The Bundesliga also has its share of talented handball players, including those from HSV Hamburg. El-Tayar is not the first prominent Egyptian player to have a stint in Germany; SC DHfK Leipzig is another German club that he represented before HBW Balingen-Weilstetten. The city of Balingen is not solely known for handball, as it's located in the beautiful Baden-Württemberg region of Germany.
