HSV coach Walter ahead of Braunschweig: "We've been warned"
Hamburger SV are cautious ahead of their clash with Eintracht Braunschweig in light of past matches. "We've been warned," said coach Tim Walter ahead of Friday's home game against the team in 17th place in the Bundesliga 2 (6.30pm/Sky). "Perhaps we haven't always had our best days against supposedly smaller teams - then more so away from home," said the 48-year-old on Wednesday. The Hanseatic side have lost at promoted SV Elversberg and VfL Osnabrück this season. Most recently, there was another defeat for the runners-up in the table with a 2:4 (0:1) at Holstein Kiel.
However, HSV are a force at home. Hamburg have won each of their six league matches at the Volksparkstadion, which will once again be sold out against Braunschweig. Meanwhile, the situation in defense is problematic: Captain Sebastian Schonlau (calf) is still out, Dennis Hadzikadunic saw his fifth yellow card against Kiel and is suspended. In Kiel, Hadzikadunic formed the central defense with Guilherme Ramos, whose adductor injury had flared up during the game and who had to leave the pitch as a result.
Ramos and Stephan Ambrosius, who was injured in Kiel, are now back in training. Walter hopes that both will be fit to play against Braunschweig. Nevertheless, there are "many options", said the coach. Moritz Heyer could move into central defense, while young talents Luis Seifert and Valon Zumberi could also get some match practice.
Despite their struggles against smaller teams this season, Hamburg's Soccer team, Hamburger SV, have been successful at home in the Bundesliga 2, particularly at the Volksparkstadion, where they've won all six league matches. However, coach Walter is cautious before the upcoming Bundesliga 2 clash against Eintracht Braunschweig, who are currently in 17th place, stating, "We've been warned."
