"I've made it plain and clear that I'd prefer to have him stuck around. I've shared my sentiment with him personally, and I've also voiced it to the higher-ups," Baumgart expressed during his media appearance leading up to the second division North derby against Hannover 96 (Friday, 6:30 PM/Sky).

The Hamburg coach held Meffert in high regard. "Jonas is a bloke you'll notice is missing in a jiffy when he's not around. If you've had the chance to work with him, you know what you're dealing with," Baumgart commented. "And if you catch wind of those words, you'll get a sense of my feelings towards him leaving: absolutely none. I don't get the vibe that Jonas is keen on departing at the moment."

The coach's appreciation for Meffert was communicated to higher authorities within 'The Commission'. Baumgart strongly advocated against Meffert's potential departure from the team.
