- HSV awaits execution of the ledger exchange

The targeted transfer of Swiss football professional Silvan Hefti from the Italian Serie A to Hamburger SV has been delayed. However, sporting director Stefan Kuntz expects the transfer of the Swiss right-back to be completed in the next few days.

"If we haven't announced anything, it usually means there are no issues on our end," Kuntz told pay-TV channel Sky ahead of HSV's season-opening game against 1. FC Köln. "It's just about some minor formalities. We'll get that done in the next few days."

Hefti as a solution for the right-back position

Hefti is currently still with CFC Genoa, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Ligue 1 club HSC Montpellier. In Hamburg, the 26-year-old is set to sign a contract until 2028. It is reported that HSV will pay a transfer fee of 1.6 million euros. With the signing of Hefti, the club hopes to address their issues at the right-back position. "On one hand, he has already proven himself football-wise. Then, he has already gained experience at many clubs. Whether intended or not. He wants to settle down somewhere now," said Kuntz. "He wants to take the next step, from regular player to leader. That's exactly what we need at HSV."

Kuntz mentioned to pay-TV channel Sky that the transfer of Hefti is nearly complete, attributing the delay to minor formalities. Once these are sorted, HSV will officially acquire Hefti, who aims to transition from a regular player to a leader, addressing Hamburger SV's persisting issues at the right-back position.
