How can companies use AI sensibly?

Small and medium-sized companies in Lusatia are increasingly interested in information and training on the use of artificial intelligence (AI). According to the organizers, this is demonstrated by the high level of interest in an AI conference taking place this Thursday (9 a.m.) at the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park on the Brandenburg-Saxony border. Practical examples of the use of AI will also be presented there. "Above all, we want to allay companies' fears and highlight opportunities," said Frank Müller, project manager of the Competence Center for Start-ups and Industry (Dock 3) at the industrial park. The 50 places for the conference are fully booked and there is a waiting list. The German AI Association, scientists and companies already using artificial intelligence are also represented.

Start-ups that use AI to make accounting easier for companies will be presenting at the conference. According to Müller, the industrial park is also home to a young company that evaluates "huge" amounts of data to facilitate the maintenance of production facilities. The Potsdam-based media company Volucap shows what is already possible on the film set with artificial intelligence. Managing Director Sven Bliedung von der Heide will provide insights into how Volucap created AI-generated visual effects for the latest Matrix film.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, one in eight companies in Germany uses artificial intelligence. According to a survey, the most common fields of application are accounting (25 percent) and IT security (24 percent).

Energy producers, environmental engineers, municipal administrations and the creative industries in Lusatia want to gain inspiration at the conference on the use of AI. Registrations also came from Schwedt, Potsdam, Berlin and Dresden. It is mainly the younger entrepreneurs and employees who see the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, but others now need to be brought on board, explained project manager Müller, who looks after companies located in the industrial park.

One of the reasons for the conference is the structural development in Lusatia. In the coming years, tens of thousands of workers will be needed in the region for the transformation, around 3,000 in the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park alone.

Companies can utilize AI in streamlining their accounting processes, as demonstrated by the start-ups present at the conference. Additionally, the industrial park hosts a company that leverages AI to analyze large data sets, thereby facilitating the maintenance of production facilities.
