accommodation problems - Hotels are booked out: Lufthansa passengers looking for rooms

Stranded Lufthansa passengers in Munich must find accommodation on their own - while tens of thousands of Adele fans are in the city. "Due to a pop concert taking place in Munich today, all hotels in the area are fully booked, resulting in no available accommodation," a Lufthansa spokesperson told the German Press Agency.

This has caused great unrest among passengers, reported a traveler who was trying to connect to Los Angeles in Munich. "The service desk has closed and left the people to fend for themselves." Their luggage was also not handed over, leaving them without fresh clothes for the weekend - and no idea when they would be able to continue their journey.

Two jumbo jets - and two major concerts

Two A380 aircraft bound for Los Angeles and Chicago were affected, unable to depart due to a "technical irregularity" or "operational reasons," according to Lufthansa. Each aircraft can accommodate over 500 people. Meanwhile, British superstar Adele performed two sold-out concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings, with each show attended by 73,000 spectators, many of whom had traveled from abroad.

The number of passengers initially unable to secure accommodation and having to resort to blankets provided at the airport was not immediately known. However, there were still some rooms available on the AirBnB platform in the evening.

Despite the technical issues with the Lufthansa flights, the demand for accommodation in Bavaria was extraordinarily high due to Adele's concerts. Regrettably, this left many stranded passengers without any options in Bavaria's fully booked hotels.
