After around ten years of planning and construction time for the greening and extension of the bunker at Heiligengeistfeld in Hamburg, the work is now largely complete. The hotel, restaurants and roof garden are now set to open in spring 2024, as the operators said in Hamburg on Thursday. "It starts in April. It will be very colorful, very creative. Music will be a huge theme," said Marek N. Riegger, Managing Director of RIMC Hotels & Resorts, during a tour of the bunker. The launch is planned for the first week of April. "It will be a hotspot in Hamburg."

The 38-meter-high anti-aircraft bunker has been raised by five additional floors in recent years. The "Reverb by Hard Rock Hotel" will then offer 134 rooms with a view over the Hanseatic city. There are also restaurants and a sports and concert hall. Space has also been created for a memorial and information center dedicated to the history of the bunker.

The bunker has attracted national and international attention, particularly as a "green bunker". A so-called mountain path has been built and planted with greenery around the square colossus. There is also a large, 1400 square meter garden for everyone on the roof. The green roof and façade of the World War II building act as a natural air conditioning system. The pioneering landscape architecture project is also being scientifically supervised.

According to the latest information from the private client, the 58-metre-high extension and the greening of the colossus cost around 60 million euros.
