On a Friday, onlookers and neighbors attempted to aid the small Münsterlander canine by setting up sun shades and saturating the car with damp towels, as detailed by the authorities. The dog was discovered breathing heavily in a travel bag. The vehicle's owner was unreachable via phone, so the police shattered a car window to save the dog.

Earlier, the authorities got a tip about a black German Shepherd confined within a car in Bad Kötzting. The car was parked in the shade with a slightly opened rear window at approximately 30 degrees. The dog had been laboriously breathing in the car for at least thirty minutes when the authorities arrived. By then, the owner was already providing care for her canine companion. The authorities are examining both women for a violation of the Animal Protection Act.
