- Hot and stormy summers
The rather fickle and changeable summer is underway in Hessen. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a heat warning for Tuesday and Wednesday in Hessen. With high temperatures up to 36°C on Tuesday, people are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
The air is muggy and at least on Tuesday morning, it's sunny. However, this changes throughout the day: thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail, and gusts of wind displace the sunny weather. It cools down somewhat at night. In some areas, there could be strong thunderstorms and showers with minimum temperatures of 22 to 17°C.
On Wednesday, temperatures rise again. Although the high temperatures of 28 to 32°C do not quite reach the peak values of the previous day, it will still be summery hot. The DWD warns of strong heat stress until evening. The muggy weather also brings severe weather in the form of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and hail. In some regions, gusts of wind could also occur.
After another very rainy night, with temperatures dropping slightly, meteorologists expect similar values on Thursday. Rainfall will decrease, with only a few showers moving eastward. Towards the end of the week, sunny and pleasant weather returns.
Despite the prediction of sunny weather at the beginning of Wednesday, severe weather in the form of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and hail disrupts the day, influenced by the ongoing heat. The Hurricane season, typically affecting other regions, is surprisingly not mentioned in the weather forecasts for Hessen during this period.
