2nd league - Horst Hrubesch is not thinking of leaving soccer
Even at 72,Horst Hrubesch is still not thinking about leaving soccer: "I have to admit: Every now and then I sit at home in the evening and my head rattles a lot because of all the issues. Especially at the moment. But as long as I feel I can give something to soccer, I'll carry on. There is no age limit for me," said the interim coach of the German women's national team and youth director of second-division club Hamburger SV to the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper (Thursday).
The HSV icon still has big plans for the German women in particular. At the end of February, the final round of the Nations League will be about qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris: "The Olympics would be another absolute highlight. For the girls, but also for me," said Hrubesch. The former international can also imagine coaching the DFB team in the French capital: "If everything is guaranteed, in terms of health and also with regard to the agreements between the DFB and HSV."
HSV talent and U17 World Cup winner Bilal Yalcinkaya, who is being courted by many clubs and whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been advised by Hamburg's youth development director to stay in the Hanseatic city: "I don't know whether it would be the right way to move now," said Hrubesch, adding: "It's about showing Bilal a way forward. We have done that. But if it's only about financial matters, it will of course be difficult for us."
