Harburg district - Horse seriously injured in accident with tractor: Driver wanted
A horse has been seriously injured by a tractor in an accident in the district of Harburg. The police are now looking for the previously unknown tractor driver, as the driver drove on after the accident on Tuesday morning, according to the police. The accident occurred on a road near the municipality of Gödenstorf, where a 48-year-old rider was riding her horse on a narrow grass verge to the right of the road. The horse spooked when an older, green tractor with a trailer drove past the rider in the same direction. The animal got one of its hind legs caught under a wheel of the trailer and was seriously injured. The rider remained unharmed.
According to the officers, the driver had steered the tractor close to the side of the road, possibly because of an oncoming car. The horse was first treated at a farm and then taken to a veterinary clinic. It was not clear on Tuesday afternoon whether the horse survived the accident.
The police are now looking for the driver of the tractor. Witnesses who witnessed the accident should also come forward. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident.
