- Hoping for good weather and spontaneous visitors to Nature One
Just before the start of the techno festival Nature One (1-4 August), the organizer is hoping for spontaneous visitors. Oliver Vordemvenne from the organizer I-Motion said that they expect roughly the same number of visitors as last year - significantly over 50,000. The exact number is still difficult to predict. "Because there's already a trend among some guests to buy tickets later, also depending on the weather and weather forecast." The number of tickets sold so far is unknown.
The weather looks better than last year, he says. "And it will probably also encourage some people to buy a ticket spontaneously and come to Nature One spontaneously."
Too much water can be a problem
According to the German Weather Service, there will still be showers and thunderstorms in Rhineland-Palatinate on Thursday and Friday. But it should be dry for the most part on Saturday.
Last year, rain caused problems on the campsites and access roads, with some vehicles getting stuck. Over 1,000 tons of gravel were used to improve the access roads.
Rainwater is still a small challenge this year. "We still have some problems with the fields, because the last few weeks have naturally brought a lot of water," says Vordemvenne. Fields are partially softened. But overall, there are sufficient reserve areas.
The setup is on schedule, arrival is calm
The setup for this year's festival on the former US rocket station Pydna in the Hunsrück is on schedule. For the first time, festival visitors could arrive as early as Wednesday. "It's all running very smoothly and regulated," says Vordemvenne. The police also speak of a "moderate arrival behavior". "So far, there are no particularities," says a police spokesman.
Hundreds of people are still working on the setup of the techno festival. "From electricity and water to the entire show technology, the stages we need here. It's already a mammoth project, but we have experience," said Vordemvenne.
More than 350 musicians will perform from Friday evening to Sunday morning. Among them are Charlotte de Witte, Paul van Dyk, Shlømo, Lilly Palmer, and Alle Farben. The festival has been around since 1995. It had to be cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the corona pandemic.
The following is added to the festival's expectations: "The improved weather forecast might attract more spontaneous visitors, as Oliver Vordemvenne suggests, due to the anticipation that better weather conditions could encourage people to purchase tickets last minute."
Regarding the field conditions, despite some challenges with water, "Vordemvenne reassures that there are sufficient reserve areas and enough gravel was used last year to handle similar issues with access roads and campsites, especially considering the potential for rain."
