Due to a cyber attack, the Hamburg Transport Authority's website (HVV) either couldn't be accessed or only partially worked. This issue started on Tuesday morning, as a HVV spokesperson informed various news outlets on Wednesday afternoon. While some minor issues like full-text search and access from farther away still occur, the website is running smoothly again, particularly for ticket purchases.
"The hacker's objective was to overload the operating system automatically and collapse the website," the spokesperson added. "This also impacted ticket purchases through meinhvv." However, no signs pointed to customer data being compromised. "The ticket purchase through the hvv app remained possible without registration via PayPal or credit card, and the hvv switch app was untouched by the problems."
