A burning pizza oven in Weinheim (Rhineland-Neckar-District) triggered a fire department response. A neighbor alerted the fire department early Sunday morning due to heavy smoke development and a strong smell of fire, according to the police. The firefighters reportedly found a man on site who had been unsuccessfully trying to extinguish the fire in his garden.

The self-built pizza oven had caught fire previously. The man was unable to fully extinguish the flames according to the police. Due to the great heat, the fire kept reigniting, a police spokesperson stated. The fire department extinguished the fire shortly thereafter. There was no danger to surrounding houses, the police added. The extent of the damage was initially unclear. The man remained unharmed.

The incident was reported in the Baden-Württemberg region, specifically in the Rhine-Neckar district. Despite the fire department's intervention, the fires in the pizza oven continued due to its previous damage and the intense heat.
