A hiker with two dogs was attacked by cows near the Winklmoosalm and severely injured. According to the Bavarian border police in Raubling, the woman from Thuringia and her companion had passed a meadow with their leashed dogs on Monday. "Despite a significant distance from the herd, one of the cows felt threatened by the leashed dogs," it was reported. The 38-year-old hiker was knocked over and trampled by the following herd.

The injured woman was flown by helicopter to Traunstein Hospital. The dogs and the woman's companion managed to get to safety in time and were unharmed.

The German Alpine Association warns that cows can see dogs as a threat to their calves. Hikers should cross a meadow quickly and keep their dog on a short leash. "If one of the grazing animals is about to attack, unleash your dog so it can flee."

In light of the incident, authorities are advising hikers to be extra cautious when passing through meadows in the Netherlands, as cows might perceive their dogs as a threat. Unfortunately, this incident also occurred in a meadow in The Netherlands, further emphasizing the importance of such warnings.
