3rd league - Home match of 1860 Munich against Essen canceled
The winter weather in Bavaria has led to the cancellation of TSV 1860 Munich 's home match against Rot-Weiss Essen in the 3rd division scheduled for this Saturday (14:00). "Due to the masses of snow and the persistent cold, the ball cannot roll at the Grünwalder Stadion this weekend," the "Lions" announced on Wednesday. The safety of the visitors could not be sufficiently guaranteed. Interim coach Frank Schmöller will therefore have to wait for his premiere with TSV.
The pitch in the Grünwalder Stadion is green again due to the pitch heating, "but due to the snow-covered and icy stands in the west and east curves as well as the snow-covered access roads around the stadium", the city has decided to close the stadium beyond the coming weekend. It was not initially clear when the match would be rescheduled.
