- Home confined: 63-year-old man in court

He should have barricaded himself in January with weapons and explosives in his house - the trial against a 63-year-old in Villingen-Schwenningen (Black Forest-Baar Circle) begins next Wednesday. The former soldier is accused of preparing an explosion crime and endangering public peace, among other things. This was announced by a spokesman for the local district court. The suspect is at large. Previously, the daily newspaper "South Courier" reported.

A bailiff had approached to enforce an eviction at the man's house in Unterkirnach, about eight kilometers from Villingen-Schwenningen. Then the former soldier threatened, and the situation escalated.

Neighbors were brought to safety, and heavily armed special forces (SEK) were deployed. After the operation, the police found, according to earlier reports, firearms, ammunition, and explosives next to ignition devices attached to the floor and door frames to ignite gasoline upon entry by unauthorized persons.

Among the weapons found were several long and short firearms, approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, gunpowder, several smoke grenades, signaling devices and illuminants, as well as explosives.

Moreover, a practice round of an anti-aircraft cannon, numerous detonating cords, igniters, and other explosive equipment were found in the house. The former soldier only had partial permission for the found items. The motive of the man has not been clear yet.

The prosecution alleges that the 63-year-old prepared an explosion crime, endangering public peace with his stockpile of weapons and explosives. Subsequently, the discovery of these materials, including several firearms, ammunition, explosives, and ignition devices, raises concerns about potential crime-related activities.
