Holzminden clinic operations to continue
Patients can continue to receive treatment at the Protestant Agaplesion Hospital in Holzminden. The district and town of Holzminden have announced that they will invest twelve million euros in the insolvent hospital. The authorities have announced their intention to set up a separate company and purchase the hospital building.
The decision provides for considerable cuts. For example, the number of beds is to be reduced to 40. The operation of the emergency room will be restricted in terms of time and there will no longer be a maternity clinic. Of the more than 450 employees, 130 will be able to remain.
The hospital and the Holzminden medical care centers filed for insolvency in August. The Agaplesion head office in Frankfurt had justified the insolvency application by stating that the economic situation had worsened enormously in recent months due to inflation. The insolvency administrator has been looking for investors ever since - so far without success.
The investment of twelve million euros by the district and town of Holzminden aims to improve the financial situation of the hospital, ensuring the continuation of essential health services. Despite the reductions in facilities, such as the reduced number of beds and closing of the maternity clinic, many employees will still benefit from job security, with 130 positions remaining.
