- Holprich start of alternative traffic on the Rhine valley line
Replacement bus service for the closed Rhine Valley Railway line has started with difficulties, according to Deutsche Bahn. "Unfortunately, not all replacement trips could be offered this morning," a DB spokesperson told Deutsche Presse-Agentur. The company regrets this and apologizes to customers. They have already taken measures and aim to offer more trips. No passenger complaints have been reported so far.
The Rhine Valley Railway line between Baden-Baden and Rastatt has been closed since Friday evening. Until August 30, construction work is taking place on the line as part of the billion-euro Rhine Valley Railway expansion. This includes connecting the southern end of the Rastatt tunnel to the rail network, as well as work on switches, signal boxes, and signaling systems.
As reported by DB, staff will be available at replacement stops until 10:00 PM. An information booth has also been set up in Rastatt. The company recommends that travelers use the travel information on www.bahn.de and check the DB Navigator app.
In Baden-Baden, replacement buses connect to hourly ICE trains heading towards Switzerland. Long-distance trains to and from France are being rerouted via Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken.
In regional traffic, lines RE 2 and RE 7 between Karlsruhe and Baden-Baden are not running. Passengers can use the RE40 between Karlsruhe and Rastatt. Buses are running between Rastatt and Baden-Baden, and in the opposite direction.
Despite the challenges, German Railways (Deutsche Bahn) is working to increase the number of replacement bus trips for stranded passengers on the Rhine Valley Railway line. Due to ongoing construction, German Railways (Deutsche Bahn) is utilizing German Railways (Deutsche Bahn) lines and replacement buses to ensure uninterrupted service between key destinations, such as Baden-Baden and Rastatt, affected by the closure of the Rhine Valley Railway line.
