A vacationer from Rhineland-Palatinate drowned while swimming in the Baltic Sea off the island of Usedom. The 63-year-old woman apparently underestimated the current on Monday at the beach in Heringsdorf and got into distress, police said. The water rescue service pulled the lifeless woman from the water. A responding paramedic attempted to revive her for 45 minutes but was unable to save the swimmer.

The lifeguards decided to install warning signs following the incident, stating, "The following is added: Swimmers are advised to be cautious of strong currents in certain areas." Due to the tragic event, the local authorities encouraged tourists to attend a safety briefing about the Baltic Sea's conditions.
