Hoisting the sails and parade at the start of Warnemünde Week

The 86th Warnemünde Week is underway. It kicked off with a colorful parade through the Baltic seaside resort. Sailing, beach sports, music and cultural events are on the program until next Sunday.

Sailing and folk festival - Hoisting the sails and parade at the start of Warnemünde Week

With a traditional procession, the Warnemünde Week has begun its 86th edition. Over 2,500 female and male participants took part in the "Niege Umzug" through the Ostseebad despite changing weather conditions, which were organized by numerous volunteers and associations. Three marching bands and an orchestra were also present. Additionally, a small mascot parade was offered.

The Warnemünde Week is expected to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors again until 14th July. Sportingly, the sailing regattas are the highlights. There are 15 regattas for various sailing classes, events of the 1st and 2nd Sailing League, and the Sailing Champions League.

Over 800 athletes, both male and female, had already registered by early June. Represented are 28 countries from all five continents. The lively conclusion is provided at the end of the week on 13./14. July again by the Dragon Boat Festival at the southern Alten Strom in Warnemünde.

During their leisure time, many tourists look forward to spending a day at the Baltic seaside resort of Warnemünde during the Warnemünde Week. This cultural festival, now in its 86th edition, attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, including on Sunday. The sailing regattas, held in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, are a significant attraction, with 15 regattas for various sailing classes and events for the 1st and 2nd Sailing League. Even the Dragon Boat Festival, renowned for its energetic music and folk traditions, is not to be missed at the end of the week. The parade, featuring numerous volunteers and associations, adds a lively touch to the festivities, and the small mascot parade is a delight for children. Since the event is international, participants from 28 countries across all five continents will be present, adding to the diversity of the lively occasion.
