Bundesliga - Hoffenheim talent Max Moerstedt moves up
U17 world champion Max Moerstedt is preparing for the second half of the season with the Bundesliga professionals of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the first time. The 17-year-old striker made a really good impression in training some time ago. "He can show himself again. We will then discuss further measures," said coach Pellegrino Matarazzo on Wednesday, but also emphasized: "U17 is something completely different from the professional game or the Bundesliga."
The 1.94-meter-tall Moerstedt is part of Christian Wück's German selection team, which won the World Cup title in Indonesia on Saturday. After his return, Wück warned: "The clubs must find ways and means to give them playing time at the highest level."
For Matarazzo, this is not just a question of the clubs. Talented players have different potential. "There are simply differences in their development. Very often it has something to do with personality. Those who remain authentic, who play to their strengths, have the best chance," said the TSG head coach. "I assume that not all U17 world champions will now become professionals." In any case, all doors are open for Moerstdt at the Kraichgau club: "He really is a top talent."
