Hoffenheim: Lifelong house ban for firecracker thrower
Bundesliga soccer club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim has announced a lifelong ban from its own arena for the perpetrators of the serious explosion of a firecracker in the Augsburg stadium. "There is no place for such people in the Hoffenheim curve. Never again," said TSG managing director Alexander Rosen on the club's website on Monday.
Rosen expressly thanked the members of TSG's active fan scene, "who obviously helped to identify the alleged perpetrators so quickly through their civil courage".
Following the incident at Hoffenheim's match at FC Augsburg on Saturday, two men have been remanded in custody. According to the police, an investigating judge has issued and executed an arrest warrant. According to the police, the men are two 28-year-olds from the Göppingen area.
The Augsburg criminal investigation department had already taken over the investigation into causing an explosion of explosives at the weekend. As far as the police know, the number of people injured has risen to 13. These include several children and teenagers.
The firework had been thrown from the "guest block area" during the 1:1 between FCA and Hoffenheim on Saturday and exploded near the corner flag. Two men were arrested during the match.
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's decision to ban the individuals responsible from their stadium follows the incident of a firecracker explosion at FC Augsburg's stadium during the Bundesliga match between the two teams. The police are currently investigating two 28-year-old men from the Göppingen area in connection with the explosion.
