Juniors team members. - Hoffenheim Junior Team Clinches Championship with Win over Dortmund
The U19 soccer players from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have clinched the title of the German championship in the youth Bundesliga. In an exciting match against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, the Hoffenheimers ultimately emerged victorious with a score of 3-1 (1-1) at the A-Juniors in Oberhausen. They thus became the first German U19 team to achieve the double of cup and championship.
The match saw more than 5,000 spectators and featured impressive goals from Max Moerstedt, who scored a header in the 22nd minute, and Paul Hennrich with a stunning free kick in the 68th. Blessing Makanda put the final cherry on top with a goal in the 87th minute. Paris Brunner, last year's U17 world champion playing for Borussia, managed to equalize the score temporarily to 1-1 in the 45+2 minute.
This marks the second championship win for the U19 team at Hoffenheim, having won previously in 2014 under the guidance of Julian Nagelsmann as the team's head coach. Sadly, for Borussia, this was their second consecutive loss in the final of the A-Juniors championship; they had lost to FSV Mainz 05 last year.
