DFB Cup - Hoeneß and VfB eagerly await the clash with Dortmund

VfB Stuttgart will host Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup on Wednesday evening (20:45/ZDF and Sky). The Swabians want to continue their winning streak in this first division clash and advance to the quarter-finals with a victory. In the Bundesliga, Stuttgart have been surprisingly strong this season, winning their home match against Dortmund 2:1 on November 11.

The chances of winning the cup have increased for both teams, as record winners Bayern Munich and defending champions RB Leipzig have already been eliminated and other Bundesliga clubs have also failed early on. Last season, VfB reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup, but then lost to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The clash with Dortmund now marks the start of a major challenge for coach Sebastian Hoeneß' team: On Sunday, they face league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. A week later, VfB will host Bayern.
