Hobby work triggers fire: High damage
Hobby work in a former carpenter's workshop caused a roof truss fire in Bichl (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district). The police are investigating a 61-year-old man for negligent arson, as the authorities announced on Wednesday. The police would not say exactly what work was involved.
The building was completely burnt out on Tuesday. The damage was in the high six-figure range. No one was reportedly injured.
The fire in Bichl originated from hobby work, posing a significant threat to Upper Bavaria's cultural heritage due to the historical nature of the carpenter's workshop. Despite the extensive damage, thankfully, no one from the community was harmed.
