After several setbacks, the Schlager duo Judith and Mel are looking ahead with optimism and plan to go on tour again next year. "The last three years have been a nightmare," said singer Mel Jersey (80), who performs with his wife Judith (75), to the "Nordwest-Zeitung" in Oldenburg. The work ban during the corona pandemic, his wife's illness, and a fire in their Oldenburg home on New Year's Eve 2023 - it was "very hard," said the 80-year-old to the paper. "If you bury your head in the sand at a time like that, you'll go under. You have to have a positive attitude to get through it," said Mel (80).

The duo wants to inspire others

Now the two have found some peace. They've been able to work on new songs. The duo plans to go on tour again in 2025. "We want to give other people who find themselves in similar situations courage," said Mel. Right now, the two are busy writing and recording more songs. "Illnesses and setbacks - none of it stops us. Now we're feeling good and looking forward, not back," said the singer. In 2025, the couple plans to fully restart, said Judith in the interview.

The musical duo is known from shows like the "Grand Prix of Folk Music" and the "Musicantenstadl". After the fire in the garage of their home in Oldenburg, the two now live in the spa town of Bad Zwischenahn a few kilometers west.

The following setbacks the duo faced include the work ban during the pandemic, Mel's wife's illness, and a fire in their Oldenburg home. The duo, expressing their optimism, mentioned that they want to motivate others going through similar situations by continuing their tour in 2025.
